Top Tips from The Flower Girls…

Materials: Flowers of choice, secateurs, vase, water.

Select the flowers from your garden that you would like to use. Pick a mix of complementary colors alongside some greenery, with a variety of texture and color. Fill your vase half full with water, you’ll need to change the water every 3 days.

Start by stripping the flowers, taking the leaves from the stems that sit below the water level of the vase. It’s okay to leave some foliage, but remember that you should have separate greenery to fill any empty spaces!

Measure the stems against the vase and cut them a diagonal at your chosen height.

Now for the base… criss-cross your foliage in the vase. Creating this lattice will provide a sturdy structure for your other flowers.

Now add your large headed blooms, equally distributing though the lattice.

Add in your secondary flowers. these tend to be smaller and will act as a filler in the arrangement.

Play around with different heights to form a dome shape. Turn the vase, continually filling any spaces as needed.

Once you’re happy…sit back and enjoy!
