Marmalade Competition
CALLING ALL MARMALADE CHEFS!
We are excited to announce that Fanny's Marmalade Competition will be on Wednesday 26th February 2026, here at Kingfisher Farm Shop.
This is our twelfth year of hosting this prestigious event. It is named after Fanny Maiklem, who loved marmalade and created the competition along with her daughter, Nellie at their farm shop. Sadly Fanny passed away 9 years ago. There was such a strong following for the marmalade competition that we thought it would be sad to let it go. Nellie put her full support behind our holding of the event and will hopefully be one of the judges, even if only judging the expressions on our faces!
As with previous years, we will be donating £1 per entry to Phyliss Tuckwell Hospice Care in memory of both Fanny Maiklem and our dear Margaret Arminson.
Dates:
The closing date is Tuesday 24th February.
Judging will take place on Wednesday 25th February, from 10.30 am.
Winners will be on display at the Farm Shop from the 27th February
Entries may be collected from Monday 2nd March
THE RULES
1. There are no limits to the number of marmalades entered by any one person.
2. Any previous winners of any set class may only enter the open class or a class they have not won.
3. Each entry will require a clean, clear jar with a fitted lid for judging and tasting. Please do not re-use savoury jars, as its content could taint the flavour of the marmalade.
4. Please label each jar you enter with your name and class on the base of the jar.
5. Judging will be on taste, aroma, appearance, texture and finish.
6. Independent judges will be invited to judge the entries. The name of the maker will not be revealed to the judges. Their decision is final.
7. Please remember to enjoy making and eating!
